Leadership from across the 104th Fighter Wing spent two days in late July at the annual strategic planning meeting discussing the key initiatives needed to ensure the future success of the wing.

At the meeting, leaders developed ways in which the wing can take care of our Airmen, accomplish the mission, make a more lethal and ready force, and sustain base longevity.

“We are very fortunate to have Colonel Bladen back from his Corporate Fellowship and add to our Strategic Planning process with his insights,” said Col. Peter T. Green
III, 104 Fighter Wing Commander. Our job is to continually improve in all mission areas and we set performance goals each year to measure our progress against our key focus areas. “Great organizations never stop working towards their objectives,” said Green.

“What we’re trying to do is make sure we include all of our planning efforts into one document that all of the commanders and chiefs can get behind and to make sure that all of our actions are in concert with one another,” said Col. Tom ‘Sling’ Bladen, 104 Fighter Wing Vice Commander.

The final strategic plan aligns all of the goals and values of the wing into a common
framework in order to create an understanding among all members as to what the wing is
trying to achieve, acting under a common philosophy to work towards achieving those goals.

“In a perfect organization, everything is aligned to a central purpose. While this may be impossible to accomplish, alignment of our Airmen’s actions is what we are trying to reach. This includes stopping doing what doesn’t contribute to our one, central purpose,” said Bladen.
