CECOM's Depot Maintenance Forward Ramps Up Readiness

    PYONGTAEK, SOUTH KOREA

    07.31.2019

    Story by Greg Mahall

    U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command

CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea - Deployed units, across the globe, and even in CONUS, are accustomed to long waits when certain C5ISR equipment has to be returned all the way to Tobyhanna Army Depot for overhaul maintenance. For a unit at Camp Humphreys, for example, that would mean losing the equipment for three months or longer, given the transit times.

The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, the Army's C5ISR materiel integrator and a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, realized how this affected unit readiness. The obvious solution was to bring the maintenance to the unit, and after much planning, depot maintenance forward is now a growing reality.
