    Story by Timothy Dugan

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District

CONCORD, Mass. (July 31, 2019) – On Wednesday night, July 31, 2019 beginning at 9 p.m. the Cape Cod Canal’s Bourne Bridge will have one travel lane restriction to complete repair work on the bridge. The nighttime one lane restriction will be in place on Wednesday night to 5 a.m. (the following morning) and on Thursday night, August 1 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (the following morning). Three of the travel lanes on the Bourne Bridge will be open to traffic at all times.

Additionally, the sidewalk will be closed for repairs on both nights from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. (the following morning). Pedestrians are advised to seek alternate transportation during that period.

All travel lanes will be open each day outside of the work shifts occurring at night.

The Corps of Engineers team thanks the Cape Cod and region commuting public for their understanding and patience during the execution of these necessary bridge repair activities and lane closures. The bridge repair work is critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the bridges, which are a vital component to the transportation system of Cape Cod, the Islands and southeastern Massachusetts.
