Photo Essay: Fort McCoy receives Bronze Award for 2019 ACOE competition

A presentation ceremony was held July 10, 2019, for the presentation of the 2019 Army Communities of Excellence (ACOE) Bronze Award to Fort McCoy, Wis., at McCoy's Community Center.

The Army’s Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management awarded Fort McCoy the Bronze Award in the active Army category.

Fort McCoy previously earned Army Communities of Excellence honors in 2018 in the same category with a Silver Award.

The post also earned a Bronze Award in the 2017 competition.

Army Communities of Excellence is an annual competition that uses the Baldrige Framework for Performance Excellence to evaluate Army installations. That framework is based on seven criteria: leadership, strategic planning, customers, knowledge management, workforce, operations, and results.

The Army community is the backbone of Army readiness, according to Installation Management Command. Army forces train at, deploy from, are sustained by, and return to the community. Army Communities of Excellence awards have been presented since 1989.

For the 2019 competition, in the active Army category, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, Ga., earned the Gold Award. The Silver Award winner was U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Riley, Kan., also was a Bronze Award recipient. Honorable Mention went to U.S. Army Garrison, Fort A.P. Hill, Va., and U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Drum, N.Y.

The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
