National Museum of the American Sailor

Calling all ship builders! The National Museum of the American Sailor will be hosting its 1st Annual LEGO Brick By Brick ship-building event on August 3rd from 11am to 4pm. This free program invites LEGO builders to share their creations with fellow enthusiasts on one exciting day - and compete for fabulous prizes! Create your own LEGO design and enter to win a LEGO Store gift card!

Great Lakes Brick by Brick offers two competitions, for children ages 4-12. Children can register to enter the Home Build Competition and bring in their designs on the day of the event or come to the event and use NMAS LEGOs to enter the On Site Competition. To register for the Home Build Competition, please complete the form located at www.history.navy.mil/nmas and bring it and your home entry when you arrive at the museum on 3 August.

For those entering the On Site Competition, registration forms will be available at the event. Several LEGO-related activities will accompany the event, so be sure to bring your creativity to the National Museum of the American Sailor. Educators will also be on hand to share the science behind building with LEGOs.

Need a break and snack from Lego shipbuilding? The Naval Station Great Lakes’ Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Food Truck will be available at the museum at the event from 11:00am-2:00pm. The truck will feature food, drinks, and souvenirs. To view the food and souvenir menu, please visit www.history.navy.mil/nmas.

The Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the United States Navy's Enlisted Sailor for the benefit of the U.S. Navy and the people of the United States. The museum is located at 2531 Sheridan Road and is adjacent to Gate 1 at Naval Station Great Lakes. Please call (847) 688-3154 or email NMAS.FCT@Navy.mil for more information.
