Soldiers from 18th Field Artillery Brigade and 225th Engineer Brigade participated in a medical exchange at the Jordanian Central Artillery Command headquarters in Mafraq, Jordan, from 17-19 June 2019. The Central Artillery Command provided over fifty NCOs and junior officers from their subordinate Battalions—23rd BN and 26th BN—as well as harnessed support from the Royal Medical Service Corps. The event focused on exchanging basic combat life-saving techniques such as opening an airway, emplacing a tourniquet, applying a chest seal, and moving and transporting a casualty. The exchange was a great opportunity for both forces to master their basic soldier tasks and battle drills and by so doing, establishing the foundation for coordinating on larger, more operational level exercises. Through the exchange, both forces strengthened their understanding of their own medical practices, as well as those of the partner nation. (U.S. Army story by Capt. Daniel Massie)
