“A lot of the recruits freak out when they are in the gas chamber,” said Magallanes. “They hit their hands on the wall, jump around, and get distracted from direction. That’s when we step in and calm them down, telling them the proper procedures. If they don't do it right here, then it can pose a hazard for anyone else.”(Photos and story by Lance Cpl. Ryan Hageali)
