ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Retired Lt. Col. and former Team Kirtland member Winston Crandall has been racking up top-10 finishes at the National Senior Games.
The games, taking place in the Duke City from June 14 to 25, feature competition for people over 50 in 20 different sports. Many veterans and Albuquerque residents are taking part in the games, which have featured more than 13,700 athletes participating.
Crandall, who served at Phillps Lab (now Air Force Research Laboratory New Mexico) toward the end of his Air Force career—he retired in 1992—has been an Albuquerque resident ever since. He competed and placed in the top 10 in the 75-79 age category in the Pole Vault, Men’s 5,000- and 1,500-meter Race Walk, and Powerwalk.
