Romanian and American forces came together to perform a live fire exercise today for Media Day in Cincu, Romania as part of Saber Guardian 19.
“This exercise promoted interoperability in coordinating and synchronizing the precision of the execution and the use of both Romanian and US forces in the exercise,” said Col. Kelly D. McNeese, the 211th Regional Support Group Commander. “The coordinated activity that they took was pretty impressive”.
Both forces worked cohesively to display their capabilities through an all-encompassing live fire exercise. The event included react to contact, close air support, medical evacuation, call for fire, direct fire, and counter-attack exercises.
Civilian media was invited out to watch, record and photograph the event as well as interact with Soldiers. Along with the media, several distinguished visitors attended the event, including Commander of Joint Forces for Romania, Maj. Gen. Dorin Ionita. Having the media attend the event gave both Romanian and American forces the opportunity to display their cohesion and how well the forces can work side by side.
“This is open to civilian media to demonstrate the relationship that we have with our international counterparts, in this case the Romanians, and the ability we have to work together,” said McNeese. “This demonstrates that interoperability and the camaraderie we have working with our multinational partners”.
Soldiers from both countries will continue to live and train together for the duration of Saber Guardian 19, building upon the relationships and trust with our allies.
“This was a very well executed exercise, the precision fires, the coordination and synchronization. It was very impressive,” said McNeese.
Saber Guardian 19 is an exercise co-led by the Romanian Joint Force Command and U.S. Army Europe, taking place from June 3-24 at various locations in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. Saber Guardian 19 is designed to improve the integration of multinational combat forces.
