    Navy Surgeon General Visits Naval Health Clinic Saratoga Springs

    SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (NNS) -- Vice Adm. Forrest Faison, Navy surgeon general and chief, U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), and Force Master Chief Hosea Smith, director of the Hospital Corps emphasized readiness as Navy medicine’s future focus during their visit to Naval Health Clinic Saratoga Springs on June 4.

    This visit marked the first time any Navy surgeon general had visited the facility.

    While meeting with the clinics First Class Petty Officers Faison discussed how this shift will help us focus on smaller expeditionary medical groups and benefits for the Hospital Corps.

    “It is my job to ensure that all corpsman have been effectively trained so that when the time comes we can fight tonight,” said Faison. “To help with this process we are looking into pathways for better educational opportunities.”

    During an all hands call Faison stressed his expectations for Navy Medicine as they move towards the future.

    “As always, we must be worthy of the trust bestowed on us, be worthy of the uniform you wear and we must recognize that we are all leaders.” said Faison. “Every one of you have the capability to make changes that better our overall mission.”

    Navy Medicine is a global health care network of 63,000 personnel that provide health care support to the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, their families and veterans in high operational tempo environments, at expeditionary medical facilities, medical treatment facilities, hospitals, clinics, hospital ships and research units around the world.
