PINEVILLE, La. — Metairie, La., native Aileen G. Foley was recently promoted to the rank of captain by the Louisiana Army National Guard.
"It is an honor to serve in the Louisiana Army National Guard and to be promoted to captain," Foley explained.
The company commander of the 527th Engineer Battalion's Headquarters Support Company in Ruston, La., was pinned with the new rank by her husband, Michael T. Foley, at a ceremony at the Lakefront Airport in New Orleans.
"It was a very special moment because my husband and children, Matthew and Thomas, were able to attend the ceremony," she continued. "Our families pay dearly for our service, and my family was grateful to be included. I am also grateful to everyone who participated in the planning," she added.
Foley, a graduate of East Jefferson High School in Metairie, La., stressed that with the new promotion comes greater expectations for her.
"This ceremony proves once again the quality of our unit and how it continuously goes beyond the call of duty," she added. "This also sets the bar higher for me to remain worthy of the effort and to carry the responsibility squarely. It is my pleasure to serve as the HSC commander."
Foley is the daughter of Anita DeHarde of Metairie, La., and Donald Gahagan of Denham Springs, La., and the controller for HFG Engineering US, Inc.
