FORT NORFOLK, Va. – For Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to “Move the Dirt,” skilled employees must first “Get the Dirt.” That’s the role of a realty specialist.
Given her quick success in that process, Stacey Nolan is the district’s “Hero of the Week.” A member of Real Estate’s Acquisition, Management and Disposal Section, she credits the office’s rapid research practices for mission success.
“Without us, you don’t have an office space to work in or any real estate to build your projects on,” she said. “And we’re constantly researching, learning and adapting for each unique project.”
Arriving in 2018 from the Jacksonville District, she has been part of multiple high-visibility assignments.
“(Nolan) has worked on diverse and demanding projects such as the Deep Creek Bridge, the Judge Advocate General Legal School and National Ground Intelligence Center,” said Craig Jones, chief of the district’s Interagency, International & Environmental Services Branch.
Jones noted her exceptional work in landowner, client and lessee associations – delivering trusted relationships with mission partners.
Nolan stated that having her efforts directly impact the community is her motivation.
“Seeing our projects being utilized in the community and working with citizens makes this job so interesting,” she said. “When what we do proves to be a massive improvement to the area, it makes me proud to have that kind of positive impact.”
