VICKSBURG, Miss -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory conducted a mini-town hall meeting at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s headquarters in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on May 22, 2019.
Bartley P. Durst, director of ERDC-GSL, outlined his laboratory’s strategic plan for completing future goals. The GSL serves the U.S. Army and the Nation by developing solutions to challenges in geotechnical and structural engineering and related disciplines.
“I appreciate the opportunity to hear the top priorities for the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory and learning about the technologies and projects that impact not only the Army but the world,” said, Maj. Jarrod Gillespie, a U.S. Army acquisition officer assigned to GSL.
GSL’s expansive mission addresses the needs of Civil Works infrastructure and homeland security, as well as the demands for innovative technology in the theater of operations. GSL provides engineering and scientific solutions through a unique combination of laboratory experimentation, material characterization, full-scale field testing and high-performance computational analysis.
