2d Cavalry Regiment

In an effort to unite both Tower Barracks and Rose Barracks, the 2d Cavalry Regiment will host Community Day on May 23, 2019 on behalf of the 7th Army Training Command.

The day will begin with the Ruck/Run to Honor – a 10.5-mile route that will start from the Camp Aachen soccer field and conclude at the Memorial Gym on Rose Barracks. The ruck mark will begin at 6 a.m. followed by the run at 6:35 a.m. In addition to the 10.5-mile route, there will be a 10K and 5K race. The 10K will begin at 7:15 a.m. from Gate 4 on One Community Road and conclude at the Memorial Gym. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. from building 305 on Rose Barracks and conclude at the Memorial Gym.

Soldiers, family members and civilians are invited to participate at no charge. Participants can elect to run or ruck the route as an individual competitor or part of a formation. Soldiers competing in the Run to Honor 10.5-mile race are authorized to wear civilians. For awareness, One Community Road will be closed for the duration of the Run to Honor. The road will re-open at 10:00 a.m.

There is no parking available at the start points for the Run to Honor. Participants will need to utilize the buses provided. The buses will pick up from the Rose Barracks and Tower Barracks exchange parking lots respectively. Family members with strollers will be accommodated.

There will be a ceremony at the 2CR memorial following the conclusion of the formation run to honor to honor our fallen Soldiers and award the top finishers in the Run/Ruck to Honor. Additionally, there will be a ceremonial cake cutting in celebration of 2CR’s birthday. Cake will be served following the ceremony at the Dragoon Inn dining facility.

Team Day 2.0 will kick off at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Field and is scheduled to end at 4:30 p.m. In the event of rain, Team Day 2.0 will be hosted at building 134 on Rose Barracks. Team Day is part of the regiment’s alternative activity initiative promoting on and off post organizations, teams and clubs for our Soldiers and families. More than 65 organizations will participate to include the 2CR hockey team, VF Performance Horse, the Weiden Football League, the City of Vilseck, the Boy Scouts, the Military Veterans Motorcycle Club and the Auto Skills Center.
