It’s all about that App: The High Rollers launch smartphone application

The 152nd Airlift Wing in Reno launched its platform within the U.S. Air Force Connect mobile application this month, allowing Airmen to access wing resources along with other military sites and resources.

“In this technology-driven age I believe this app will change the way communication takes place around our wing and give us even more of an edge propelling the High Rollers long into the future,” said Senior Master Sgt. Paula Macomber, 152nd Airlift Wing Public Affairs superintendent.

The “app,” available on iPhone and Android, has more than 20 features.

Opening the USAF Connect app brings you to the main Air Force screen, and Airmen are able to add additional organizations or “favorites,” including the 152nd Airlift Wing. From there they can access High Roller resources that are customized to the organization.

“This is truly groundbreaking,” Macomber said. “We can put so much information in one location, virtually communicating everything from news, weather, fitness tidbits and even photos of our very own High Rollers doing their jobs.”

A number of features within the app are Common Access Card enabled, providing CAC capability to Airmen from their personal cellphones. With an external smart card reader Airmen are now able to access their military email, the Defense Travel System, myPay and many other sites.

“It’s very hard to explain the value this brings to our organization,” Macomber said. “If you download the app, you will be amazed at the amount of resources available.”

The 152nd Airlift Wing Public Affairs team encourages Airmen to follow the Wing on social media, and remain on the lookout for contests involving free mobile CAC readers.
