The 325th Civil Engineer Squadron will open up Phase 1 of new temporary dorms for permanent party personnel at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

The 325th CES partnered with the 325th Force Support Squadron to begin transitioning those who are currently housed in tents into the newly constructed dorms in early May 2019.

“We want to give them comfort back,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Randy Aikens, 325th Civil Engineer Squadron unaccompanied housing superintendent. “It’s almost like a deployment here, which is very unique while you are stateside.”

Aikens explained that the 325th CES is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to restore two additional dorm buildings with the least amount of damage from Hurricane Michael. Once made habitable, the 325th FSS will begin assigning new personnel to those additional rooms.

According to Aikens, creating better housing for Tyndall personnel has remained a top priority for leaders who directly correlate mission success and morale with quality of life for their fellow Airmen.

“Having the back of all of the bosses has made this a pretty smooth transition because everyone thinks that this is the most important thing on the base right now,” Aikens said. “Yes, we have our flying mission up and running, now we have to focus on taking care of the ones who need it most.”
