CONSTANTA, Romania-- U.S. Army Soldiers from Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania, visited the Constanta Senior Center to interact and engage with community members celebrating Orthodox Easter, April 25, 2019.
During the visit Soldiers learned traditional Romanian dances and music, painted eggs and flower pots and got to know each other during a cultural exchange.
Spc. Edward Perkins of Delta Company, 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley, Kansas, is a frequent outreach volunteer who once again took the opportunity to engage with the local community.
“I’ve always enjoyed volunteering with the church during my time here at MKAB,” said Perkins. “I feel like it’s important to show friendly faces so that our allies know the kind of people that we as U.S. Soldiers are.”
Soldiers stationed at MKAB make numerous visits into the Constanta area in an effort to interact with locals and build relationships.
Soldiers interested in more information about how to sign up for community engagements and other volunteer opportunities should contact their local chaplain.
