Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield held a hurricane table-top exercise, April 18, at the installation’s crisis response center to test their severe weather response plan.

During the training session, garrison staff and individuals among the installation’s critical work force, reviewed policies, partnerships and resources and tested communication channels with the community, local, regional and state agencies.

Randall (Mack) McPherson, installation emergency manager on Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, said community members should remain ready too.

McPherson said Soldiers and their Families should register with ADPAAS, the Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and Assessment System, http://ready.army.mil/ra_adpaas.htm; ensure they have emergency kits at home; understand their evacuation plan; and stay in contact with their chain of command. McPherson said, although people should be prepared for emergencies year-round, hurricane season is just around the corner, June through November.

Community members can learn more about readiness and severe weather by visiting the installation website’s hurricane center at https://home.army.mil/stewart/index.php/my-fort/community/hurricane-center, following the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Arifield Facebook site and downloading the installation app either at Google Play or iTunes - just search for Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield.
