The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC) released a new tool, “The Truth About Tobacco” dynamic slideshow, which is designed to encourage those who use tobacco to consider quitting and to promote tobacco free living. "The Truth About Tobacco" highlights common misconceptions that adults may frequently use to continue smoking, dipping and/or vaping as well as the latest tobacco information. The slideshow also discusses the typical reasons for quitting tobacco and where to get assistance with tobacco cessation, all in less than two minutes.
“Quitting tobacco use is the most important thing you can do to improve your health and to increase readiness,” said Dr. Mark Long, Health Promotion Tobacco Program Manager at NMCPHC. “Please take a moment to address tobacco use and provide helpful and effective options to those who use tobacco and want to quit.”
This is a new tool that may be used by medical staff and others in a variety of ways to reach patients - such as, general tobacco cessation awareness, part of health education, in trainings, during command indoctrination and in waiting rooms.
