Day two action opened up with a hard fought match between Air Force and Marines.

Marine Lance Corporal Nicholas Heath of MCB Camp Lejeune, N.C. put the Marines on the board early with a goal in the twelfth minute.

The score remained in the Marines’ favor until Air Force Capt. Andrew Belk of Patrick AFB, Fla. tied the match in the 58th minute.
Quick to respond was Heath scoring his second goal of the match off a penalty kick and third of the tournament in the 62nd minute.

Nearing the end of the match, Air Force tied the match with Belk scoring again in the 79th minute. With the match becoming the Heath/Belk showdown, time expired and the match went into extra time consisting of two full 15-minute halves.

While in extra time, Air Force shut down the Marines scoring efforts and registered two goals by Capt. Johnny Melcher of Peterson AFB, Colo. and 2nd lt. Ryan Ward of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo.

Air Force wins 4-2 and ties Navy with a 1-1 record.

In the second match of the day, Army and Navy faced each other as the rain rolled in once again.

With just 11-minutes in the match, Army jumped to an early lead with Sgt. Allyn Wilson of Fort Meade, Md. knocking in the penalty kick for the goal.

Army held the lead throughout the match and sealed the deal when Sgt. Allen Ibarra of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. looped a kick over Navy’s keeper in the fourth minute of stoppage time to end the match.

Army remains undefeated and will advance to the championship match on Saturday regardless of their outcome against the Marines on Thursday.

With both teams tied at 1-1, Thursday’s matchup between Air Force and Navy will determine which team goes to the final to face Army.
