FR19 is a Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed, U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) sponsored and funded exercise executed as a command post exercise consisting of staff planning and collaboration with USSOUTHCOM components during a simulated crisis scenario. The training exercise improves component’s staff integration with our interagency partners and enhances our posture to execute a joint rapid response to theater security challenges.
Throughout the week the joint staff headquarters puts into practice a series of simultaneous staff actions requiring joint planning and interagency collaboration. FR19 serves a key role in enhancing time sensitive crisis action planning and improving SOCSOUTH’s posture in support of USSOUTHCOM and regional security and stability.
SOCSOUTH plans, and coordinates Special Operations throughout Central America, South America and the Caribbean to achieve operational and strategic objectives in support of Commander, USSOUTHCOM.
