The Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) Training and Deployment team hosted the D-270 workshop, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Washington D.C. Army National Guard Regional Training Institute at U.S. Army base Ft. Belvoir for ARNG Soldiers from New Jersey, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut (Fielding Group 4). These states are scheduled to ‘Go-Live’ in IPPS-A mid-August, 2019. IPPS-A is currently live for Pennsylvania Army National Guard Soldiers.
Over the next 12 months and throughout a total of 10 fielding groups, all Army National Guard Soldiers across the 54 States and Territories will convert to IPPS-A – a new personnel, pay and talent management system – replacing the Standard Installation and Division Personnel Reporting System (SIDPERS). The D-270 workshop trained Soldiers on the steps their states must perform to be successful during the IPPS-A deployment process.
“The workshop provides an outline for each state to follow,” said Vince Hayes, IPPS-A Training & Development, Branch Chief. “It informs them of the key dates and processes they’ll have to follow for a smooth and successful transition to IPPS-A.” The workshop is a 4-day event comprised of informational briefings and key working sessions that begin the transition to IPPS-A.
Attendees were given instruction by Army National Guard subject matter experts about the Army Organizational Server (AOS), the system the contains unit structure information, and began to correct unit information and hierarchy in AOS. “All of this work is critical for states to ensure that every Soldier has slot in IPPS-A,” said CW4 Rachelle McKay.
Emphasizing the importance data correctness has on the SIDPERS to IPPS-A cutover process, the IPPS-A Training and Development team provided instructions and techniques for correcting data mismatches between the legacy HR and pay systems. CW4 McKay added, “These steps also ensure there are no pay issues when IPPS-A goes live in their state.”
The IPPS-A Training and Development team briefed attendees on the deployment process and all tasks states will complete to successfully migrate from SIDPERS to IPPS-A. To further assist, the IPPS-A Training and Development team has produced a comprehensive list of tasks and a scorecard to help states monitor their progress.
“The D-270 workshop is critical,” said Hayes. “It prepares states to brown-out or migrate from SIDPERS to IPPS-A through a series of monthly actions leading up to their Go-Live date.”
Future fielding groups will undergo the same workshops as Fielding Group 4 to ensure a successful migration from SIDPERS to IPPS-A.
