The 325th Mission Support Group hosted a change of command ceremony at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, April 1, 2019.

U.S. Air Force Col. Matthew Jefson relinquished command of the 325th MSG to Col. Gregory Beaulieu. The 325th MSG provides support to the 325th Fighter Wing, First Air Force (Air Forces Northern), 601st Air Operations Squadron, 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group, Air Force Civil Engineer Center, 337th Air Control Squadron and Silver Flag.

The 325th MSG works within the 325th FW to provide support to more than 23,000 active duty, guard, reserve, civilian, contractor, dependent and retired personnel.

Jefson assumed command of the MSG in July 2017. While his tenure and impact on the MSG far predates one of the most catastrophic days in Tyndall Air Force Base history – his leadership skills were tested when Hurricane Michael hit the Florida Panhandle Oct. 10, 2019. Partnering with three Air Force task forces, Jefson enabled the recovery of 17 F-22 Raptors, the assessment of 484 buildings and the preservation of critical infrastructure.

“We’ve been through some trying times, but we’ve come through that,” Jefson said. “The key in going through hell is not stopping. Just mash the gas pedal and move on.”

“As an Airman and as a leader, I cannot thank this group of individuals enough for letting me lead you,” Jefson said.

The change of command is the military's formal transfer of command responsibility from one commander to the next.

“I am humbled and honored that you have the confidence and trust in me to continue to build on the success Col. Jefson has forged,” Beaulieu said.

Beaulieu entered the Air Force in 1999 after graduating from Florida State University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in history. He later earned a graduate degree in National security strategy from the National War College.

“I am proud to join the ranks [of the 325th MSG],” Beaulieu said. “I have watched from afar over the last six months and the amount of progress you have made is truly phenomenal. … I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to defend the base, support the fight and take care of Airmen and their families. Together we will continue to accomplish great things.”
