Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility plays an important part in the Defense Logistics Agency Maritime family by serving as the primary advocate for PSNS and IMF supply support in Washington.

As part of their outreach efforts, DLA Maritime - Puget Sound was one of 119 vendor booths at the Alliance Northwest Small Business Conference in Puyallup, Washington, March 7.

This event marked the 30th year of working with the Washington State Procurement Technical Assistance Center. Washington PTAC’s focus is to assist small businesses with marketing to the government, solicitations, drawings and other areas related to selling to the government.

This year’s conference addressed the changes in government contracting in relation to Federal Business Opportunities and System for the Award Management. Additionally, there was an emphasis on veteran-owned businesses.

During the conference, DLA Maritime - Puget Sound Contract Specialist Andrea Hart and Purchasing Agent Jessica Reichard spoke with small business participants about the shipyard, what it procures and how suppliers can do business with DLA.

“The event was highly successful,” Reichard said. “Many of the vendors and businesses that we interfaced with have the capabilities to provide the supplies and materials that DLA Maritime – Puget Sound procures on a regular basis in support of the shipyard and Trident Refit Facility in Bremerton and Silverdale, Washington.“

With more than 325 participants, the DLA team was able to make contact with businesses across all socioeconomic focal areas. These categories included service-disabled veteran-owned, woman-owned, small disadvantaged and HUBZone small businesses.

Businesses looking for more information on selling to DLA should visit the DLA Small Business Office webpage where several educational resources are posted.

The available resources provide assistance to train and counsel suppliers on doing business with DLA. These free opportunities include immersive two-day Training, Knowledge and Opportunities Seminars known as TKOs, webinar training presented by DLA Land and Maritime subject matter experts as well as vendor outreach opportunities at symposiums, fairs and conferences across the country.
