    FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii (March 6, 2019) -- Robyn Au has recently been selected to serve as the Honolulu District’s Chief Counsel.

    Au becomes responsible for a staff of six, as well as the oversight and delivery of legal services for execution of District’s missions, including the military, civil works, environmental and regulatory programs. The Office of Counsel also gives guidance and advice in matters of contract/procurement law, fiscal law, personnel and labor law, ethics, real estate law, and Freedom of Information Act.

    Au most recently was serving as the District’s Acting Chief Counsel, following the departure of former District Chief Counsel Shivaun White in 2018.

    Her tenure with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commenced in 1986 as an Assistant Division Counsel with Pacific Ocean Division, where she advised in contracts, personnel, labor law, and was Assistant Division Trial Attorney from 1992-1996.

    As POD Assistant Trial Attorney, she was the lead or co-lead attorney for contract appeals filed at Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals as well as Agency Counsel in federal court litigation. Upon transitioning from POD to Honolulu District, Au served as Assistant District Counsel in ethics, equal opportunity, contracts, employment law, and torts.

    From 2008 to 2009, Au served as the Assistant General Counsel for the Department of Defense Education Activity at Torii Station, Okinawa, Japan. Prior serving in Japan, Au was the Deputy District Counsel for Honolulu District from 1996-2008. Au was again selected as Deputy District Counsel, Honolulu District in April 2012.

    Au has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (Criminology) from Indiana State University and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is admitted to practice in the State of Hawaii and admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar.
