    193rd Special Operations Wing

The 193rd Special Operations Wing Strength Management Team helped lead an Air Force Special Operations Command joint recruiting event Feb. 27 at King Auditorium in Hurlburt Field, Florida.

The purpose of the event was to educate Airmen who intend on separating on how they could preserve their AFSOC experience by continuing the AFSOC mission through service in the Air National Guard.

There are 10 AFSOC gained ANG units, from nine different states, each of those units offering their own specialized mission. Recruiters from those units attended the event to brief their missions and talk about the different jobs and benefits that are available through their state.

Tech. Sgt. Jody Roof, a recruiting office supervisor with the 193rd SOW, attended the event and briefed the Pennsylvania ANG portion.

“Any chance that we get to promote the Air National Guard is important,” said Roof. “This specific event gave us the opportunity to speak to fully qualified AFSOC members and present them with options that we have here in Pennsylvania. It also helps to build a relationship with the AFSOC community and creates a network for members to seek out future endeavors.”

This was the first event hosted by the 1st SOW that showcased all of the AFSOC ANG units. After the brief, Airmen were able to speak one-on-one with recruiters and other unit representatives to gain more information.

“I had the opportunity to speak with many Airmen who were involved in this event, both recruiters and attendees, and the feedback has been phenomenal,” said Roof. “A lot of active-duty Airmen do not realize that the Air National Guard is an option and offers so many benefits. These Airmen may have been contemplating getting out of the Air Force and didn’t realize there were ways to continue their service back home. Any forum where we can present what the Air National Guard has to offer is always successful.”
