Following the February Unit Training Assembly, the 920th Rescue Wing partnered with the 45th Space Wing to conduct an emergency response exercise.

“The unit was successful in demonstrating annual requirements to react to a threat,” Lt. Col. Nick Philpitt, 920th RQW Chief of Inspections, said. “During this particular exercise, we were able to accomplish five of seven annual exercise requirements, ultimately saving valuable government time and taxpayer dollars.”

By combining requirements, Airmen will have more time to focus on job proficiencies and other training requirements.

The Air Force Inspection Agency, Air Force Reserve Inspector General Airmen and a wing inspection team evaluated the exercise.

“Although this exercise was a success,” Philpitt said. “There’s always room for improvement.”

Philpitt went on to say that in the future, the 45th SW is going to assist the 920th RQW to make this type of exercise larger in scope and scale to create a more realistic environment for members before they deploy to combat.

The remaining annual exercise requirements will be carried out before the end of the calendar year.
