    105th AW announces Airmen of the Year

    105th Airlift Wing


    Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2019) – The 105th Airlift Wing announced the winners of the wing-wide Outstanding Airmen of the Year competition.



    The competition features the standard categories of Airmen, NCO, SNCO, first Sergeant, and company grade officer of the year, plus a unique category to the 105th – Team of the Year.



    The recipients were:



    Senior Airman Gerardo Balsa, assigned to the 105th Base Defense Squadron, for Airmen of the Year.



    Tech. Sgt. Christopher Torres, assigned to the 105th Maintenance Squadron, for NCO of the Year.



    Senior Master Sgt. Dennis Pitcher, assigned to the 105th Maintenance Group, for SNCO of the Year.



    Master Sgt. Stella Martini, assigned to the 105th MXS, for First Sergeant of the Year.



    Capt. Robert McDonald, assigned to the 105th Operations Group, for CGO of the Year.



    First Lt. Jason Cullison, 1st Lt. Stacey Hayduk, Senior Master Sgt. Patricia Pullar, Master Sgt. Bryan McCarthy, TSgt Holly Courtney, Staff Sgt. Anna Teczynska, Staff Sgt. Joanna Teczynska, Staff Sgt. Dominick Biolsi, Senior Airman Brianne Scrobe, and Senior Airman Justin Pichardo, all assigned to the 105th Intelligence Office, for Team of the Year.



    Cullison thanked his team for their dedication.



    “Senior Master Sgt. Pullar and I are so proud to work with such an outstanding team,” Cullison said. “Their efforts in the intel shop are always recognized and appreciated.”



    Chief Master Sgt. Mark Cozzupoli, the command chief for the 105th AW, commended all the winners.



    “These selections did not come easily, as there were many deserving individuals up for the awards,” Cozzupoli said.



    The 105th submitted the individual award winners to compete at the state-level and, if successful, they will compete at the national level.



    “Please congratulate these fine Airmen when you see them and be sure to wish them luck at the next level,” Cozzupoli said.
