CAMP TAJI, Iraq - 22nd Human Resources Company, 10th Sustainment Brigade Troops Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, out of Fort Lewis, Wash., is a combination of 2nd Detachment, 22nd and 4th Det., 22nd Postal working together to provide service, preserve moral, and accomplish our mission which is to effectively run Camp Taji's Army Postal Office and the Stryker Village Annex.
We consist of contracting officer representatives in the APO, and at our warehouse. We have a team of four who support the unit at Stryker Village once a week. Our CORs ensure that the Kellogg Brown & Root employees are following all the guidelines and are offering the best customer service. Camp Taji provides mail services to more than 21,000 military and civilian personnel.
Camp Taji has two warehouses; warehouse number one is where the unit mail clerk picks up accountable mail along with redirecting mail of personnel who are no longer in theater, or on Camp Taji, and warehouse number two is where Unit Mail Clerks pick up non-accountable daily mail. The KBR employees ensure that the unit mail clerks have their Camp Taji, DD Form 285 card and identification card before entering either warehouse.
Staff Sgt. Elizabeth Moment from Hobe Sound, Fla., Spc. Gerly Sotelo from Anchorage, Alaska, Spc. Elizabeth Dycus from Mobile, Ala., Spc. Angelica Pearce from Henderson, Nev., and Pvt. LaShea Gallon from San Francisco, conduct mail services once a week at the Stryker Village, North Taji Annex. This postal mission provides local and convenient postal services for the 2,064 personnel stationed on Stryker Village. We provide priority boxes, flat rate boxes, and free mail for envelopes that do not exceed 16 ounces. Sotelo and Gallon conduct thorough parcel inspections. Dycus is the finance clerk who greets each customer with a smile and provides them with the most efficient pricing of their package.
Every Saturday, we hold a mail handler class for the units we provide service for. Pfc. Andrea Witt from Greensboro, N.C., and Pfc. Corie Davis from Richmond, Va., are technical inspectors and the capable Soldiers who give this class. The class provides the information and guidelines on running a unit mail room, actions of a postal officer, mail clerk, or mail orderly. The class keeps all engaged by actively participating in the training. A test is administered after the class is complete.
