Three brothers from Meridian, Idaho, enlisted in the U.S. Army within three weeks of each other, each choosing different military occupations. The brothers, Jonathan, Jeremiah and Micah Miller, will depart for Basic Combat Training in January, 2019, then separately attend their Advanced Individual Training for chosen occupations.
The eldest brother, Jonathan, will serve as a ranger. The middle brother, Jeremiah, will serve as a PATRIOT fire control enhanced operator/maintainer. The youngest, Micah, will serve as an explosive ordinance disposal technician.
The Miller brothers are graduates from the Ambrose School, where they played on the lacrosse team.
Jonathan was the first to join after conducting a web search for a new career. After speaking with a recruiter, he spoke with Micah, who decided to join the next week. Jeremiah then decided to join the week after his younger brother.
Serving in the U.S. Army has several benefits, including an enlistment bonus for each brother.
“Together their combined bonus money comes to a grand total of $64,000,” explained Staff Sgt. Patrick R. Wood, station commander for the Meridian U.S. Army Recruiting Station. “Their mother is very proud of what her sons have decided to do together. Not only brothers by blood, but now brothers in arms.”
The media is invited to conduct an interview with the family Dec. 27 at 12 p.m. at the Meridian U.S. Army Recruiting Station, 2845 E Overland Road Suite 110, Meridian, Idaho 83642. Media may also attend an enlistment ceremony, Jan. 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., at the Boise Military Entrance Processing Station, 550 W Fort Street, Boise, Idaho 83724.
