Colorado National Guard band performs for Jordan Armed Forces partners
By Colorado National Guard Public Affairs

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado National Guard members from the 101st Army Band will perform a private concert for Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army partners attending a Junior Officer Development exchange, Dec. 7, at Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, Colorado.

The Band will perform traditional patriotic music from both the U.S. and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

“A concert like this allows our Jordanian partners and our members to experience time-honored patriotic music in a setting that promotes mutual understanding,” the Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael A. Loh said. “This kind of activity strengthens ties between Colorado and Jordan in support of defense security goals.”
The visiting contingent includes eight officers of the JAF.

Throughout their visit to Colorado which began Dec. 2, 2018, JAF team members shared experiences and best practices with their CONG counterparts. Together, they discussed the similarities and differences in leadership style and learned practices and strategic thinking from each other, in order to improve as military leaders.

The JAF members visited the CONG deployed families event at the Boettcher Mansion, in Denver, Colorado, and the Colorado State Capitol as part of their cultural day. They also received an orientation flight aboard a CONG UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.

Colorado and Jordan formed a strategic relationship in 2004 to promote peace and security through the National Guard’s State Partnership Program.

2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the SPP. By linking U.S. states with designated partner countries, the SPP supports geographic Combatant Commands by building long-term relationships, improving interoperability, and enhancing military capabilities and the principles of responsible governance.
