    10th Special Forces Group (Airborne)

Fort Carson, Colorado - LaRochelle Dining Facility makes special meals for the Soldiers of 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) during the holidays. Thanksgiving is no exception.
Long hours of preparation and work go into cooking and setting up good holiday meals that Soldiers and their families can enjoy at the dining facility (DFAC). The culinary specialists at the chow hall work long hours the night before and early morning hours the day of the meal.
The staff and faculty of the chow hall were up all night and day to make sure that this year's Thanksgiving lunch was better than the year before. This year's theme for the meal was "The 1980s." Most of the Soldiers who cooked and decorated the dining facility the night before and into the morining, dressed up as characters from the '80s to go along with the Thanksgiving meal theme.
"Thanksgiving brings Soldiers together in camaraderie," said one Culinary Specialist who works at the DFAC. "[The meal] allows us to showcase our skills."
The meal for the Soldiers and their family members went really well this year with more personnel attending than last year. Command teams from all the Battalions were on hand to serve their Soldiers and families lunch.
Group Support Battalion's Command Sgt. Maj. Nance Malave was one of many leaders that served Soldiers their meals.
“Regardless of rank, it is our honor to feed soldiers," said Malave. "It's the best thing that we can do to show that we are out here supporting them. This is a great opportunity for us to get out and see the Soldiers and their families."
And for the culinary crew of LaRochelle, Malave had a special message of her own.
"Once again, you have knocked it out of the park! Plus the 80's theme was AWESOME!" Malave prised through social media. "I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the Holiday Season."
Between the DFAC cooks working long hours to make the 1980's-themed Thanksgiving lunch, and the command teams showing up to feed their Soldiers and their families, this year's holiday lunch was one that the Green Berets and Paratroopers of 10th Group won't soon forget.
