AL DHAFRA AIR BASE, United Arab Emirates – Recently, the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Inspector General team, 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, and 380th Expeditionary Medical Group teamed up to put Al Dhafra’s readiness to the test by pushing personnel out the door with their gear as quickly as possible.

Extensive training each and every Airman has previously completed is put to use in case of a strike from adversaries to include Self-Aid and Buddy Care; Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape; and weapons qualification.

If an attack were to occur, multiple readiness components are automatically activated. Attack warning signals sound off to everyone on the installation. Bags containing Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear defense equipment are ready to go at a moment’s notice. One of those elements is Individual Protective Equipment, which is just as crucial as the rest.

“The overall objective of this exercise was to demonstrate the 380 AEW's ability to rapidly equip ADAB with Individual Protective Equipment and BW/CW kits,” said Master Sgt. John Laurence, 380th AEW IG wing inspection planner and gatekeeper.

The 380th EMDG and ELRS physically played a major part as they executed “100% exercise mission effectiveness.”

“The EMDG is one half of the Individual Protective Equipment distribution process,” said Maj. Brandon Cochran 380th EMDG administrator. “Working in tandem with our ELRS counterparts, collectively we ensured that Wing Airmen are physically and medically prepared to meet and weather the perceived threat in a contested environment.”

The ELRS counterpart issued the personnel their equipment and completed dual-inventory with every Airman who went through the line to minimize zero mistakes.

“It brings piece of mind to know that our team can provide that kind of support in a short period of time, but at the same time, I did not expect any less,” said Staff Sgt. Janet Soto, 380th ELRS container control officer.

The three units harmonized to assess and guarantee ADAB’s readiness resulting in anticipated success.

“Readiness is key in our deployed environment,” Soto said. “Whether we are in a combat location or not, we should remain ready to execute any mission requirement at any time.”
