RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – Airmen assigned to the 786th Civil Engineer Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, bolstered their readiness to conduct Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force operations on Nov. 15, 2018.

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Andrew Baines Jr., 786th CES Prime BEEF manager, said an update to Air Force Instruction 10-210, which pertains to civil engineer training, prompted his squadron to respond accordingly.

Prime BEEF is an Air Force civil engineer principle centering on support for the beddown of troops and aircraft. Airmen assigned to a Prime BEEF mission are charged with ensuring their airfield and installation remain operational.

“This AFI drives how we civil engineers train not just here on Ramstein, but across the Air Force as a whole,” Baines said. “The major change in this publication was that all home station training would now be reportable. With this new update, we as an organization went from reporting 1,034 required training tasks to 7,623, which equates to a 637% increase.”

Baines said leaders at the 786th CES make it a point to keep their Airmen ready at all times.

“What we wanted to showcase was our ability and zeal when it came to tackling this new requirement,” he said. “Our motto as civil engineers is ‘engineers, lead the way!’, and it all starts with our engineers being properly trained at home station to answer any call that may come.”
