Story by Airman 1st Class Caleb Vance

    130th Airlift Wing

The November Charlie West Spotlight is Staff Sgt. Neil Lindsay, a Crew Chief for the 130th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

As a Crew Chief, or Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Journeyman, Lindsay’s duties are described as: day-to-day maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions and replacing components, supervision and coordination of care for the planes and detailed inspection as well as record keeping and administration.

These Airmen are considered to be the experts when it comes to ensuring their aircraft are mission ready at any moment.

Lindsay is embarking on his fifth year serving with the unit after joining upon graduation from high school in 2014. Since then, he has been attending Fairmont State University and is slated to complete his Bachelor Degree in Aviation Technology this December while working as an Intelligence Analyst.

In his free time, Lindsay enjoys recreational shooting, off-roading, spending time with friends and in the outdoors. He also volunteers with the veterans group at Fairmont State University.

His goals here at the 130th are to commission as an officer and become a pilot, and on the civilian side he wants to complete his Masters in Safety.
Lindsay is also very proud and invested in his job and being able to be a part of the 130th Airlift Wing.

“My favorite moment at the 130th was deploying with the unit and being able to do my job overseas,” explained Lindsay. “And honestly the best day of my life was coming home from that deployment.”

He also reiterated how cohesive and “family-like” the unit is in how Airmen always take care of each other and do their best to achieve the mission and get everyone home safe.
