    FORT BRAGG, N.C. – The National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes took part in a community outreach event at Fort Bragg, North Carolina., Nov. 13, 2018.

    The players visited the installation to speak with Soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division, meet a Gold Star Family, and to receive demonstrations on Soldier Skills at the Fort Bragg Training Support Center.

    The professional hockey players started the event by visiting the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Dining Facility where they had lunch with Paratroopers of the All American Division. The Carolina Hurricanes then met with U.S. Army Col. Kyle Reed, the Fort Bragg garrison commander, Sgt. Maj. William Lohmeyer, the senior enlisted adviser for the garrison command, and Canadian Brig. Gen. Bill Fletcher, the deputy commanding general of operations for the XVIII Airborne Corps.

    The NHL's Carolina Hurricanes also met with Gold Star Family of the deceased Sgt. Jonathan Hunter, providing his family and the command with autographed hockey sticks in honor of their sacrifice.

    After touring the dining facility, the Hurricanes concluded their visit at Fort Bragg's Training Support Center where they learned the basics of combat casualty care and rifle marksmanship.
