FORT BLISS, Texas – Christy Beyer, Lidia Gallegos, and Anabel Koshinsky, family readiness leaders with Task Force Bulldog, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team “Bulldog,” 1st Armored Division, received awards for volunteer service at the 1st Quarter, Fiscal Year 2019, Fort Bliss Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Selfless service, one of the seven Army Values, is a way to show members of the organization that you care.

“It really is important to me as a commander, to us as a garrison, and as an installation to recognize those who are going above and beyond to make this installation a great place to live and work,” said Col. Steve Murphy, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Bliss.

Task Force Bulldog, is a rear-detachment element of 3rd ABCT, 1st AD designed to maintain operations at home-station, and to ensure Soldiers families are offered support throughout Bulldog brigade’s deployment to the Republic of Korea.

“It’s really rewarding to see people come together in situations we would normally never be thrown together in,” said Lidia Gallegos, family readiness leader with 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd ABCT, 1st AD. “It’s a good way, especially if it’s your first time in the Army as a family member, to get to know people; and it’s a great way to build a support system when your family not near.

Family Strong is an Army initiative focused on building resilience in Soldiers and their families by offering a strong support network and organizing events to build camaraderie amongst one another.

“It’s very important to be a part of a community and being in touch with families to know how we can improve life here on Fort Bliss,” said Anabel Koshinsky, family readiness leader with 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 3rd ABCT, 1st AD. “Whenever you are helping other people and you get to see what you’re doing makes a difference in their lives, it’s very rewarding, it’s priceless.”

It doesn’t take a lot to be a member of the family readiness team, and it doesn’t matter how much time you can give. The only thing that’s important is you are there to offer support when you can.

“Every little thing counts, if you contribute an hour of your week or 30 hours of your week it matters, and it will make a difference to your unit,” said Christy Beyer, family readiness leader with 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 3rd ABCT, 1st AD.
