    416th Theater Engineer Command

DARIEN, Illinois – The brigade and battalion command teams, under the 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) travelled to their Darien Ill. headquarters. Commanders, command sergeants major, and other staff met face to face with the staff and leadership of the 416th TEC to receive guidance for fiscal year 2019.

The two main points of discussion were readiness, and leader development.

“I want us to ask ourselves, as we prepare for any training or activity, ‘will this make me more ready?’” said Maj. Gen. Miyako Schanely, as she addressed the Soldiers in attendance.

Schanely, and her staff, brought the teams together to provide them with expectations, and to offer support for future training plans. Each of the four brigades and the direct reporting units met with the different staff sections to dive deep into each unit’s issues and discrepancies, then came up with the best courses of action to solve them.

The units also went over their plans for annual training; and looked over the training value, and feasibility of their exercises. They examined the amount of personnel necessary to accomplish a mission, and compared the unit’s personnel strength to see if they are capable or if they’ll get any training value out of the exercises they plan to attend.

Each unit presented next year’s training plans to Maj. Gen. Schanely to bring their units readiness to a higher level. By the end each unit, and the TEC staff had a better understanding of the situation, and how to improve.
