Communicator of the Month

Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow

LaTisha Dixie McSwain-Zeman, network administrator with S-6 Communications has been selected as August 2018 Communicator of the Month aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif, where she has worked for six years.

Dixie started at MCLB Barstow at Security Emergency Services as a contractor and through her hard work, dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to help others, was transitioned to a civilian employee. Her career on base started at S-8 Comptroller department as a financial technician and progressed soon after to a financial management analyst. She is now a proud member of the Communication’s Data Department wherein she works as part of the Network Operations team where she diligently works to manage and inventory all network assets, and maintain network connectivity. She has also cross-trained with the helpdesk team, and upholds quality customer service and problem resolution in all scenarios. She fulfills many functions within the department to include appointments to various roles such as the Voluntary Protection Program, Collateral Duty Safety Officer and Multi-Cultural Committee member.

McSwain-Zeman, a Barstow native, has taken on many Helpdesk tasks with success while building a network foundation to assist in troubleshooting common and advanced level networking issues. She has been actively engaged in both field and remote network troubleshooting and configurations.

Recently married, she has a combined family consisting of 11 nieces and nephews to keep her on her toes. She is also a notary public, tax preparer, Sunday school teacher, member of the MCLB Barstow Marksmanship club, and avid volunteer. Her volunteer work includes non-profit organizations such as Relay for Life Cancer Society, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, American Legion, Barstow Gun Club, High Desert Junior Shooters Club.

She and her husband are avid hikers and enjoy spending their free time outdoors in God’s country.
