MOORESTOWN, N.J. — My DCMA showcases the Defense Contract Management Agency’s experienced and diverse workforce and highlights what being a part of the national defense team means to them. Today we meet Navy Lt. Andrew Small.

My name is Navy Lt. Andrew Small, and this is “My DCMA.”

I am currently a contract administrator at DCMA Lockheed Martin Moorestown in New Jersey.

My job duties include providing contract administration services on all assigned contracts, ranging from receipt and review to negotiating directly with contractor personnel as well as performing contract closeout.

I have been a part of the DCMA team for a year and a half. Prior to DCMA, I served onboard the USS Warrior as a supply officer, forward deployed in Japan.

I like working at DCMA because every day I encounter something new or different. Our main objective is to support the warfighter, but DCMA has provided me with a great learning experience and has extensively increased skills for my tool bag. I also get to work with a great team every day. I work with some very hard working, knowledgeable, and experienced individuals who have helped me grow as a professional, and the power of teamwork goes a long way when working through complex issues and challenges on a daily basis.

I am the independent eyes and ears for the Department of Defense because I support and provide various services for different types of contracts to effectively support the warfighter. Coming from a ship, I have seen firsthand how contracting has a key role in meeting mission requirements and how all parties that are involved have such an impact and role in helping the warfighter meet mission capabilities. I’ve shared my experiences with teammates regarding situations where timely contracting action had a direct impact on me as a warfighter and how DCMA truly affects military actions around the world.

I provide actionable acquisition insight to DoD by working with all parties involved and establishing communication with contractors and the customers to make sure warfighters are getting a quality product or service on time that meets their needs.

DCMA is important to America’s warfighters because we are a global organization with a vision of “one team, one voice delivering global acquisition insight that matters.” We provide our customers with the best customer service out there by being consistent and building trust through sustained superior performance. We get the job done from the factory floor to the front line to ensure our warfighters have everything they need.
