    155th Armored Brigade Combat Team

CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait – The 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment announced its selections for Soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer of the Month for August.

Spc. Ethan Saylor, an infantryman assigned to Company A, and Sgt. Jeremiah Adams, an M1 armor crewman assigned to Company C, were the two candidates who passed the rigorous process to be selected as Soldier and NCO of the Month.

After being selected by their company, they had to create a packet representing their military career, then attend a board to be drilled on military knowledge, explained Adams.

But all the hard work paid off for the Mississippi Rifles Soldiers.

“I feel like It’s an honor being selected for NCO of the month, it definitely sets you apart from everyone else,” said Adams.

The Soldier of the Month program is for more than just bragging rights.

“I think the board itself helps Soldiers develop confidence by just getting Soldiers used to talking in front of others,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Harry Griffith, the battalion sergeant major.

“There is preparation that goes into getting ready to compete in a board just like getting ready for a job interview. Soldiers study striving to do their best on the board and learning during the studying process,” he said.

The Soldier of the Month program and the board process had a lasting outcome for one soldier.

“It’s really prepared me for my next step, to become an NCO in the Army,” said Saylor.

The Storm Battalion Soldiers will compete for Soldier and NCO of the Quarter later this year.
