Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus are partnering with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank to help fight hunger in the greater Columbus area.

For the past nine years, the installation has provided continuous support to the local food bank aiding half a million people experiencing food insecurity annually in Ohio.

“As one of the largest employers in the greater Columbus area, we’re committed to doing our part to help our community,” said DSCC and DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John T. Palmer. “This food drive is just one of the many ways our associates contribute locally to make a positive impact and improve the lives of Ohio families facing the challenges of hunger.”

Last year, DSCC associates donated nearly 11,000 pounds of food to the Mid-Ohio food bank serving central Ohio. These efforts supported 183,750 children and 89,250 seniors who receive emergency food each year through the food bank.

This year collections will take place every Wednesday during the month of August from 6 – 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the box truck located in the north parking lot of building 20.
