At 3:45 p.m. on July 24, 2018, Range Safety Inspectors with Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) discovered an apparent drowning victim at Training Area 1, Marine Corps Training Area Bellows (MCTAB), MCBH.
Lifesaving measures were attempted on scene and the victim, a civilian with no Department of Defense affiliation, was transferred to Castle Medical Center via emergency medical services. The victim was pronounced deceased at 5:15 p.m., yesterday at Castle Medical Center.
The incident is under investigation through the Honolulu Police Department.
Bellows Beach Park is closed to the public Tuesdays through Thursdays. MCTAB training areas, to include its beaches, is a secured training area and off limits to the general public. Marine Corps Training Area Bellows (MCTAB), located on the windward side of O‘ahu, is a 1,049-acre parcel adjacent to Waimānalo Town.
