2nd OSS Intel: An AFGSC Dynasty

The 2nd Operations Support Squadron Intelligence team works around the clock to support operations around the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base.
The Airmen’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. For the past four years they have won the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Awards Program Intel Team for all of Air Force Global Strike Command three times and currently hold two consecutive wins.
“Two years in a row as the team of the year within the MAJCOM is a big accolade,” said Major Jason Woodley, 2nd BW chief of wing Intelligence. “People do solid work across the command, so to say we won this means we are the best of the best.”
Each Intel team within the command is rated against each other to determine which team is premier. One of the highlights for the 2nd OSS Intel team was that they were responsible for making sure that over 3,000 strikes landed on designated targets.
“While we supported a significant amount of global B-52 operations from here at Barksdale, we also deployed numerous Airmen from our team to support downrange operations as well,” Woodley said.
In 2017, the intel team took home three individual awards as well. Woodley earned the field grade officer award, Tech. Sgt. James Rusiewski, 2nd OSS Intel operations flight chief, won the NCO category and Senior Airman Stanley Petit-Homme, 96th Bomb Squadron intelligence analyst, won the Airman category.
For the 2nd OSS Intel team, it isn’t about the awards. They do their job to further the mission of the B-52.
“At the end of the day our goal is to ensure we are providing the right information at the right time,” Petit-Homme said. “You want to make sure that when you go up to speak or train aircrew you give them the information they need to make decisions.”
Team Barksdale has the best Intelligence team in the entire AFGSC, and the amount of awards they won are proof.
