CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Director of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado Joanne Iglesias will conduct a media availability about the July 20 veterans’ OneSource groundbreaking before leading veterans in a climb to raise the flag atop Independence Monument in Colorado National Monument, Grand Junction, Colorado.

A state-owned former Colorado National Guard armory in Grand Junction is the future home of the Western Region OneSource which will help serve the needs of more than 40,000 Colorado service members, veterans, and their families who live in 24 counties on the Western Slope of Colorado.

“With the Governor’s leadership, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will increase our capacity to assist Colorado veterans, military members and their families,” The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh said. “The addition of a Western Region OneSource will centralize resources under one roof, making it easier for those who serve or have served, and their families, to take that first step in obtaining assistance.”

The DMVA will conduct the groundbreaking ceremony at the Colorado Army National Guard Readiness Center, 2820 Riverside Parkway (D-Road), Grand Junction, 81501, July 20, 2018, at 11 a.m.

A majority of the design, construction, materials and labor will be sourced from Grand Junction and other communities along the Western Slope. The DMVA will finance most of the renovation which will cost about $3.5 million.

The OneSource is scheduled to open its doors in May 2019 at 428 28 Road, Grand Junction, 81501. The DMVA is accepting sponsorship and partnership applications. The DMVA needs to raise about $250,000 through sponsorships to cover the cost of furniture and equipment. Community service providers will be able to rent space in the 14,000-square-foot facility.
