    The 3rd (United Kingdom) Division said farewell to U.S. Army Major General Doug Crissman at a ceremony in Bulford, England.

    Crissman handed off his duties and responsibilities to Brigadier General Matthew Van Wagenen who now takes over as the deputy commanding general for the 3rd (UK) Division. Crissman served for the past two years as the most senior exchange officer within the Military Personnel Exchange Program.

    “The past two years with the 3rd UK Division has been both professionally and personally rewarding for me and my family,” said Maj. Gen. Doug Crissman. “The 3 UK Division is a capable headquarters, which has made real progress on Multinational Interoperability and regaining Division-level warfighting competence through a recent combination of challenging U.K. and U.S. exercises.”

    Van Wagenen comes to the 3rd U.K. Division from Fort Hood, Texas where he served as the Deputy Commanding General Support, 1st Cavalry Division.

    "I look forward to the opportunity to be the DCG of the 3U.K. Division and continue the great relationships that MG Crissman has built over the last two years with our closest ally. 3rd U.K. Division has a long history and tradition, I am very proud to be part of the Team,” said Brig. Gen. Van Wagenen.

    “I wish Brig. Gen. Matt Van Wagenen the best as he assumes this important position and I know he will continue to advance the special relationship between our two Armies and our two Nations,” said Crissman as he moves on to become the director, Mission Command Center of Excellence, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

    The Military Personnel Exchange Program (MPEP) consists of 58 officers and NCOs within the USAREUR footprint. Ranks range from Staff Sergeant to Brigadier General, across all the branches.
