Col. Allen E. Duckworth, former 97th Flying Training Squadron commander, assumed command of the 340th Flying Training Group during a morning ceremony here officiated by 22nd Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Craig L. LaFave.

A command pilot with more than 3,100 flying hours, the colonel has 450 combat hours in the A-10 supporting Operations Allied Force, Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The traditional Reservist is a civilian combat readiness program analyst for the 10th Air Force headquartered at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas.

Commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996, the colonel has served in a variety of combat, training and leadership positions stateside and overseas. Among others, he has earned the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the Aerial Achievement Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

Col. Janette Thode, group deputy commander and interim commander since October, as the commander of troops, led a 49-member formation representing the unit’s seven subordinate squadrons.

The 800-plus military and civilian Airmen assigned to the group and squadrons manage the Air Force Reserve Command Reserve Instructor Program, providing experienced instructor pilots, jump masters, and basic military training instructors to augment Air Education and Training Command’s instructor force.
