Command Information Officer, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Les Hubbard, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 1 Sailors, USS Constitution Sailors and Navy Band Southwest represented the Navy in various ways at the game.

Hubbard, a northern Nevada-area native, threw out the first pitch of the game.

“I am incredibly excited to come back to my old stomping grounds carrying the Navy message,” said Hubbard. “The Navy has brought a diverse group of Sailors from USS Nevada, USS Constitution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 1, Meteorological and Oceanographic Command and Navy Band Southwest to engage and excite the people of this region about their Navy.”

The Reno Aces staff members were excited about the Navy’s presence at their game especially because it was Military Monday.

“The atmosphere the Navy is providing here tonight is awesome,” said Jon Reisdorf, Reno Aces entertainment coordinator. “It’s an added experience for veterans here and exposure for the military on Military Monday.”

Chief Explosive Ordnance Disposal Matt Ludwig, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 1, delivered a baseball to the pitcher’s mound with an iRobot 310 Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle.

“I like bringing in a part of the Navy that Reno hasn’t seen before and sharing my community with them,” said Ludwig.

Reno Aces fans appreciated the delivery of the ball via the robot.

“It’s cool to see the technology that the Navy is using,” said Michaela Massa, Reno Aces promo crewmember. “Having the Navy here on Military Monday is close to my heart.”

Reno is one of only 14 cities selected to host a Navy Week this year.

Reno Navy Week is scheduled from June 18-24, coinciding with the Reno Rodeo, and is designed to give area residents an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity.
