BEMOWO PISKIE, Poland- Soldiers from NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Poland concluded Saber Strike 18 with a multinational defense and counter-attack exercise for distinguished visitors to view on June 15, 2018.
Among those in attendance were Maj. Gen. Jaroslaw Mika, Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces and Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire, Deputy Commander of U.S. Land Forces in Europe.
“The demonstration today was a reflection of how far we have come in readiness and interoperability,” said Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire, Deputy Commander of U.S. Land Forces in Europe. “To be able to see the combined and joint nature of this exercise shows that we are ready and every day we get stronger and more prepared.”
“Interoperability of all nations involved was the key to this exercise and they have all presented a satisfying level of activity,” said Maj. Gen. Jaroslaw Mika, Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces.
Saber Strike 18 is the eighth iteration of the long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise designed to enhance interoperability among allies and regional partners. This year’s exercise also focused on improving land and air operational capabilities with an additional key objective to train with NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Groups.
"This is sign of the importance of training together, to see the growth of our battle group, who is proudly a NATO battle group, proudly embedded into the 15th Polish Mechanized Brigade working side by," said Maj. Gen. McGuire.
Battle Group Poland is a multinational battle group, comprised of U.S., U.K., Croatian and Romanian soldiers, who serve with the Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade as a defense and deterrence force in northeast Poland in support of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence.
