ORZYSZ, Poland —The 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade conducted a movement to contact in conjunction with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment during exercise Saber Strike 18, near the Bemowo Piskie Training Area, 12 June, 2018. Saber Strike 18 is a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise designed to enhance interoperability among allies and regional partners.
The purpose of the movement to contact mission was to fix the 15th Polish Mechanized Brigade, acting as the opposing force (OPFOR), into position in order to enable elements from 2CR to engage them. This mission also set conditions for the 2CR to conduct a follow on wet gap crossing.
The focus of this year’s exercise is on improving land and air operational capabilities with an emphasis on training with NATO's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battlegroups.
